ABOUT

I am a Registered Psychologist who has 24 years of experience in private practice and 30 years of experience in the Education field. As a School Board Psychologist and Program Specialist I have extensive experience developing and conducting workshops and seminars for teachers, administrators and board staff.  I have offered workshops in Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Prevention and Peer Mediation while working with the Avalon East School District. I was also a member of a Tragic Events team that responded to crisis situations.

 

In 2004-2005 I developed and delivered a comprehensive program for Compu College that helped train Student Assistants in Dealing with Difficult Students.

I have worked as a sessional instructor at Memorial University from 2002 - 2014 and presently works as a Psychologist in the St. John’s area. I consult and collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists and many organizations in an effort to create healthy workplace environments and address mental health concerns. (ex. Manulife, Dejardins, Family Services, Atlantic Offshore Medical). I have conducted many assessments and has appeared as an expert witness in three court cases.

 

In September of 2015, I travelled to Vancouver, BC to complete additional training in Dealing with Anxiety and in November 2015 I completed a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Bootcamp with Christine Padesky. In October 2015, I completed the RCMP course in Road to Mental Readiness - Building Wellness in the RCMP and I am now a Facilitator for this training.

 

In July 2016 I completed the first level of EMDR Training in Victoria, BC and in March 2017 completed the second level of the EMDR Training in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I am now certified as an EMDR Therapist. Presently I am the Family Psychologist for the RCMP and is part of their emergency response team.

In February 2017 I travelled to Ottawa, Ontario to attended the Mental Health Police Personnel, workshop, presented by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Currently, my practice focuses on individual and couple counseling, working with children and adults in the area of anxiety, depression, stress and life change. In addition, I continue to deliver workplace seminars that address topics such as: changes in the workplace, effective communication, managing stress and resiliency training.
